Insurance
Pet insurance has become increasingly popular in recent years. Healthcare is expensive, and increasingly higher standards of treatment are available. It provides peace of mind that you can provide the best care for your pet when they are most in need without worrying about the cost of the treatment.
If your pet already has a problem, and you want to take out insurance, this is possible. However, of course that existing condition will not be covered, nor will any condition which results from the pre-existing problem. It is still worth considering taking out insurance though, as unfortunately new problems can always develop.
Insurance is a contract between you and the insurance company, and does not involve your vet. Your vet may make claims on your behalf. Your vet will not know if your condition is covered under your policy; it is your responsibility to check this with the company. Therefore if you already have a policy and your pet has a problem, it is wise to contact the company before embarking on expensive treatment to make sure that the condition is covered. You will need your policy number. Insurance forms will be processed for you at Mulcair Vets, and an admin fee applies.
