Many procedures at Eye Vet are performed on a day patient basis. While waiting for your pet, it is convenient if you are nearby. We have several suggestions for what to do while waiting.

Eating:

There are three cafés in Newport:

• The Pink Tent, Clonbealy
• Pónaire, Main Street (mainly coffee)
• Treats, Main Street

Restaurants further afield but still within 10 minutes include:

• Matt the Threshers, Birdhill
• Finnegans, Annacotty
• Old Barracks, Birdhill offers a coffee experience but is adult only

Places to walk:

• The Clare Glens. 4 km outside Newport, this picturesque forest walk along the Clare River can be completed as a 3.4km loop and dogs on leads are welcome.
• Glenstal Abbey – a beautiful monastery with lovely grounds; dogs on leads are welcome.
• Killaloe / Ballina on Lough Derg
• Keeper Hill – the best hike in the location but it is 14 km long!
